Description

Syarif Hidayat is a data scientist who studies artificial intelligence applications in business, education and internet of things.

His primary interest concerns the development of smart systems in different aspects of life especially  business and education. Providing Business Intelligence with predictive analysis to recognise business opportunities and business efficiency. He is also interested in the development of gamification in education. Incorporating game elements in an e-learning system to improve student motivation and tenacity. He is also interested in the development of the internet of things equipped with artificial intelligence to create smart systems that support human life.

In 2020, Syarif and his colleagues at Universitas Islam Indonesia recieved funding from The Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia for a low complexity classification modelling for human activity classification based on Random Forest Algorithm. In the previous year, he also received funding from the same institution to develop a prototype of Location-Based Service to track hajj and umrah pilgrims. Prior to completing his Doctoral Degree, Syarif has built several smart IOT to mitigate volcanic hazard at Mount Merapi Indonesia.

Syarif has spent 15 years as an assistant professor in the Department of Informatics at Universitas Islam Indonesia and as an instructor in Cisco Networking Program.
