Informatics UII Visit to Youngsan University and Hanyang University

On November 18, 2019, Hendrik, the Head of Department of Informatics UII, together with Teduh Dirgahayu, the Head of Undergraduate Program in Informatics, visited Youngsan University (YSU) in Busan, South Korea. The purpose of this visit was to discuss the continuation of the Dual Degree (DD) program that has been running since 2015. Ibrahim Surya Putra and Muhammad Rizky Al-Faraizy, both class of 2013, were the first two alumni of this program. Meanwhile, two other students from class of 2015, Fairuz Shofi and Ivan Seto Adicahya, are the next in line.

Discussion with Youngsan University

During discussions with the Department of Computer Engineering YSU, Hendrik and Teduh had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Young-Gi Kim, the CEO of Wegochain, a South Korean company focusing on Blockchain-based applications and services development. At the time, Mr. Kim and his staff were about to interview Ivan Seto Adicahya, who was applying for a job at Wegochain. Alhamdulillah, Ivan is most likely joining Wegochain after completing his study at YSU next year.

During discussions, Wegochain interested in working with UII and they planned to open a branch office in Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta. At present, the Department of Informatics UII is still in correspondence with Wegochain, to realize this collaboration. Hopefully, it will be realized soon next year.

Visit to Hanyang University

In addition to visiting YSU, Hendrik and Teduh also visited Hanyang University (HU) in Seoul as a reciprocal visit to HU’s visit to UII a few weeks earlier. Here, the discussion is more focused in the collaboration on the short-term program, such as summer and winter programs. Every year, the HU summer and winter programs are attended by approximately 2000 students from many countries.

On that occasion, HU also offered Department of Informatics UII to send its lecturers to come as visiting lecturers in the said short-term programs.

So, which one are you interested in joining? The Dual Degree program between UII and YSU? Or the short-term program at HU? All the while having the opportunity to explore further the world’s most innovative country.

Tanggal 18 November 2019 yang lalu, Hendrik, Ketua Jurusan Informatika bersama Teduh Dirgahayu, Kaprodi Informatika Program Sarjana, mengunjungi mitra Informatika yakni Youngsan University (YSU) di Busan, Korea Selatan. Tujuan lawatan kali ini adalah untuk mendiskusikan keberlanjutan program Dual Degree yang selama ini telah berjalan. Sudah ada dua alumni dari program ini yakni Ibrahim Surya Putra dan Muhammad Rizky Al-Faraizy. Keduanya alumni angkatan 2013. Selain itu, saat ini masih ada dua mahasiswa aktif program DD ini yakni Fairuz Shofi dan Ivan Seto Adicahya, angkatan 2015.

Diskusi dengan Youngsan University

Pada saat diskusi dengan jurusan Computer Engineering, YSU, Hendrik dan Teduh berkesempatan bertemu dengan Mr. Young-Gi Kim, CEO Wegochain, sebuah perusahaan Korsel yang bergerak dalam pengembangan aplikasi dan layanan berbasis Blockchain. Saat itu, Mr. Kim beserta stafnya akan mewawancarai salah satu mahasiswa DD Informatika yakni Ivan yang melamar pekerjaan di Wegochain. Alhamdulillah, kemungkinan besar, Ivan bisa bergabung dengan Wegochain tahun depan setelah menyelesaikan studinya di YSU.

Saat diskusi dengan Wegochain, mereka berminat untuk bekerja sama dengan UII dan mereka berencana membuka kantor cabang di Indonesia, khususnya di Jogja. Saat ini, pihak jurusan masih berkorespondensi dengan pihak Wegochain, untuk merealisasikan kerja sama ini. Semoga segera terealisasi tahun depan. Aamiin.

Kunjungan ke Hanyang University

Selain menyambangi YSU, jurusan juga mengunjungi Hanyang University (HU) di Seoul, sebagai kunjungan balasan, setelah sebelumnya pihak Hanyang University berkunjung ke UII beberapa minggu sebelumnya. Di sini, diskusi lebih difokuskan pada kerjasama program singkat seperti summer maupun winter school. Setiap tahunnya program summer maupun winter school HU diikuti kurang lebih 2000 mahasiswa dari pelbagai negara.
Pada kesempatan itu, HU juga menawarkan dosen Informatika untuk bergabung sebagai visiting lecturer pada program short-term tersebut.

So, minat gabung dengan program Dual Degree antara UII-YSU, atau mengikuti program short-term dengan HU sembari berkesempatan mengeksplor lebih jauh negeri paling inovatif di dunia ini.
