Two Lecturers of Department of Informatics UII Attended APRICOT 2020 in Melbourne
The Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies (APRICOT) is the largest international internet conference in the Asia Pacific that is held annually. This year, APRICOT 2020 was held at the Crown Promenade Conference Center in Melbourne, Australia. This event was held in close collaboration between The Asia Pacific Network Operators Group (APNOG) and the Asia Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC) with The Internet Association of Australia Inc. (IAA) as the host. This prestigious event was attended by practitioners and academics from across the Asia Pacific.
Fayruz Rahma, S.T., M.Eng. and Mukhammad Andri Setiawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D. who are lecturers of Department of Informatics UII also attended this event.

At the APRICOT 2020 – APNIC49 conference, which was held on 16-21 February 2020, Mr. Andri attended as the staff of IDNIC-APJII (Indonesian Network Information Center – Asosiasi Penyelenggara Jasa Internet Indonesia). As a staff of IDNIC, Mr. Andri revealed that one of the tasks of IDNIC, in addition to make internet quality in Indonesia better, is to make Indonesia a “hotspot” and better known as a pioneer of the latest technology in internet, in the Asia Pacific region.
Fayruz Rahma in APRICOT 2020 – Workshop
Ms. Fayruz attended the APRICOT 2020 Virtualization & Cloud Computing Workshop which was held on February 12-16, 2020. According to her, as a lecturer in the Cyber ​​System area, the workshop that she participated in was very important to deepen knowledge and improve capabilities related to virtualization and cloud computing. In this workshop, Ms. Fayruz learned virtualization from basic concepts to container and cloud technology. In addition, there were also several practices, including: virtualization with VirtualBox, virtualization using libvirt with the KVM hypervisor, clustering and virtualization using Ganeti, migrating instances from one node to another node, and so on.
Ms. Fayruz was listed as a participant who passed the selection in the APRICOT Fellowship program. Out of more than 500 APRICOT 2020 fellowship applicants, only 34 fellows were selected from 15 countries in the Asia Pacific region. Ms. Fayruz was the only fellow from Indonesia.
In addition to gaining new knowledge and skills, in this event, Mr. Andri and Ms. Fayruz can also establish relationships with academics and other Internet practitioners from various Asia Pacific countries, and share conditions in their respective countries, get motivation, and inspiration in the world of lectures or technology.
