ICITDA 2022, Bridging the Challenges in Network Security and Digital Forensics

The 2022 IEEE 7th International Conference on Information Technology and Digital Applications (ICITDA) was successfully held on November 4th-5th under the theme “Bridging the Challenges in Network Security and Digital Forensics”. Organized annually by the Department of Informatics Universitas Islam Indonesia, this event aims to be a place for exchange ideas, knowledge, and experience on the latest developments in the field of information technology and digital applications. 

As the end of the COVID-19 pandemic is in sight, this year’s ICITDA was decided to be held as a hybrid event and has successfully attracted the interest of nearly 80 participants. The onsite event took place at Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta, while the virtual participation can be followed through Zoom Meeting.  

DAY 1

The first day of the event began with welcoming and opening remarks. The opening session was addressed by Mr Kurniawan D. Irianto, S.T. M.Sc. as the Committee Chair, followed by Dr. Ir. Ford Lumban Gaol, S.Si., M.Kom. as the Chairman of IEEE Computer Society Indonesian Chapter, and Dr. Raden Teduh Dirgahayu, ST., M.Sc. as the Head of Department of Informatics Universitas Islam Indonesia. 

Prof. Dr. Ying-Dar Lin of National Yang-Ming Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan, gave the first keynote speech, titled “AI for Cybersecurity: Attack Reproduction Multi-data source, Machine Learning, Data Balancing, MITRE ATT&CK Extension” moderated by Dr. Chandra Kusuma Dewa, S.Kom., M.Cs., Ph.D. of Universitas Islam Indonesia. The meeting went on to the second keynote session which was presented by Prof Shukor Abd Razak of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Malaysia, discussing AR/VR Security and Privacy Risks guided by the respective moderator, Dr. Syarif Hidayat, S.Kom., M.I.T. of Universitas Islam Indonesia.

After a break for lunch, the event started again with a hands-on workshop led by Mr Josua M. Sinambela, S.T., M.Eng. (CEO at RootBrain & ForensikDigital, Indonesia) on the topic of “Digital Forensic & Incident Response/Handling” assisted by the respective moderator, Ms Erika Ramadhani, S.T., M.Eng. of Universitas Islam Indonesia. And for the last session of the day, Dr Niken Dwi Wahyu Cahyani, S.T., M.Kom., Ph.D. of Telkom University, Indonesia, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Anti Forensics: A challenge in digital investigation” with Mr Ari Sujarwo, S.Kom., M.I.T.  of Universitas Islam Indonesia as the moderator. All sessions gained great enthusiasm shown by the number of questions asked by the participants.

DAY 2

On 5 November 2022, The IEEE 7th International Conference on Information Technology and Digital Applications (ICITDA) officially came to an end. Despite being the last day of the event, all the attendees were still incredibly excited and willing to follow the agenda through to the very finish. Mr Izazi Mubarok SST, MSc., CHFI, CEH, ACE, OFCE, MCFE, CCO, CCPA, CISA, CDSS, CRMP (Chairman of Indonesian Digital Forensic Association) started the second day’s agenda with a workshop entitled “Digital Forensic Investigation to Uncover Fraud Cases” moderated by Mr Ahmad Fathan Hidayatullah, ST., M.Cs. of Universitas Islam Indonesia.

The following schedule was paper presentation sessions. For this year’s ICITDA, a total of 45 papers were presented by all the Authors, 8 online and 43 offline. Each presenter had the chance to deliver their paper in one of the four chosen rooms and moderated by the respective session Chairs. As for the final session of the conference, Dr. Ahmad Luthfi, S.Kom. M.Kom. of Universitas Islam Indonesia delivered a keynote speech about “Validation of Digital Forensics Investigation: Challenges and Scientific Outlook” moderated by Mr Ahmad Fathan Hidayatullah, ST., M.Cs. of Universitas Islam Indonesia.

To round up the two outstanding conference days, the committee finally announced all the winners from each categories. The winners were as follows:
