ICITDA 2021, Cyber Security in Data Science Era
The International Conference on Information Technology and Digital Applications, or ICITDA 2021 has been successfully held for the sixth time by the Department of Informatics, Universitas Islam Indonesia. ICITDA is an annual international conference at which researchers from all over the world present their work and learn from other presenters, keynote speakers, and hands-on workshop speakers. This year’s conference gained great enthusiasm worldwide, with the theme “Cybersecurity in Data Science Era”.
The 6th ICITDA, like the previous year, was held virtually, but with the addition of a new concept, utilizing both Zoom Meeting and Gather.town for the main event. At the conference, 42 papers were accepted. The main events took place on November 5 and 6, 2021. This year’s ICITDA succeeded in attracting the attention of researchers from 11 countries to submit their papers, including Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, United States, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Australia, Bangladesh, and Morocco.
The first day of ICITDA 2021, held via Zoom Meeting, began with the opening speeches from Prof. Fathul Wahid, rector of Universitas Islam Indonesia, and Ms. Arrie Kurniawardhani, chairperson of ICITDA 2021. The first keynote speech, entitled “TinyML and Importance of Data-Centric Approach”, was delivered by Dr. Owais Ahmed Malik of Universiti Brunei Darussalam. The conference then moved on to workshops led by Dr. Charles Lim of Swiss German University and Dr. Syarif Hidayat of Universitas Islam Indonesia, discussing “Open Source Intelligence: Profiling Your Target” and “Artificial Intelligence Applications in Cybersecurity Domain”, respectively. Dr. M. Andri Setiawan of Universitas Islam Indonesia gave the final keynote speech of the day, entitled “Living The Next Normal in An Enterprise: Leveraging the Wi-Fi Technology in A Post-pandemic Future”.
On the second day, all participants were invited to join the conference through Gather.town, an RPG-based virtual meeting platform where all participants could actively interact with each other. Dr. Ahmad Raf’ie Pratama of Universitas Islam Indonesia kicked off the second day with a workshop entitled “Filtering Email Spam with Machine Learning”. The next schedule was paper presentations, divided into two sessions. Each presenter was given the opportunity to present their paper in one of the four designated rooms. The final two keynotes were delivered by Dr. Nurul Hidayah bin Ab Rahman of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, entitled “Emerging Technologies and Data Science: The Implications to Digital Forensics Research Directions”, and Dr. Bernardi Pranggono of Sheffield Hallam University, entitled “Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence”.
To cap off the two fantastic conference days, the committee announced the much-anticipated Best Paper Awards. The winners were as follows:
- Data Mining Framework for The Identification of Profitable Customer based on Recency, Frequency, Monetary (RFM) by Fikri Asmat, Kadarsah Suryadi, and Rajesri Govindaraju.
- EfficientNet-Transformer for Image Captioning in Bahasa by Umar Abdul Aziz Al-Faruq and Dhomas Hatta Fudholi.
- Fuzzy-Based Intelligent Health Information System for Natural Disaster Victims by Moch. Zen Samsono Hadi, Aries Pratiarso, Nur Rosyid Mubtada’i, Ahmad Syauqi Ahsan, Hafara Ulufan Nuri, and Rachmawati Rizki Marzuqi.
With this, the sixth ICITDA had concluded successfully, thanks to the committee’s wonderful spirit in organizing such a wonderful event, and all participants, keynote speakers, also hands-on workshop speakers for their enthusiasm and knowledge sharing.
